Our Community's Needs |
Miami-Dade County continues to grow, as do the needs of residents and visitors, for world-class parks, recreation areas, community programs, historic site preservation, and other community assets.
The traditional government funding sources are not growing fast enough to keep pace with the
demands of our expanding community. |
The Solution is the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade |
The leadership of the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department in conjunction with prominent community leaders recognized the need to establish funding sources independent of the government in order to try to keep pace with the growing needs of our community. Through combined public-private leadership, the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade was founded in 2004 as a separate, independent, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. |
The Leadership: |
The Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade is governed by a Board of Directors that is independent of the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department. The composition of the board is a combination of distinguished community leaders, business professionals, selected Park and Recreation management personnel and individuals who contribute special skills to this great community effort.
